Thank you for joining me in this cause!
As many of you know in 2019 I rode in my first AIDS/Lifecycle, 20 years after the Alaska AIDS Vaccine Ride, which was also my last time on a bike. I had an amazing time on this incredible 545 mile ride from San Francisco to LA.
After the 2019 ride, I pledged to do the ride (health permitting) 10 more times with the goal of raising $200K for the critical work the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation are doing to #EndAIDS.
Well, a global pandemic happened and the 2020 ride was cancelled. I, however, was not. I trained all spring and rode 545 miles the week the ride would have happened. I also beat my 2019 fundraising total and kept myself on track for my $200K goal.
The 2021 ALC has also been cancelled, but the community is still riding in a months-long virtual event called Togetheride, with riders pledging to ride various distances to continue the critical fundraising needed to keep SFAF and The Center operating. The AIDS/Lifecycle historically has provided the lion's share of operating funds for both of these organizations.
The COVID pandemic has made the work of these two organizations more critical than ever. In addition to their life-saving HIV/AIDs education and prevention programs, The Center and SFAF are often the primary source of medical care for the communities they serve, communities that have been among the hardest hit by COVID.
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
I have set a Togetheride training goal of 1,500 miles with another 545 to be done during the week the ALC would have happened, for a total of 2,045 miles.
I need to raise at least $18K to stay on track to hit my $200K goal. As we have done in the past Charles and I will match the first $5K in donations
Will you support me by making a donation today? And please, please, please if your employer offers matching gifts, consider making me one of your matches this year.
Many thanks and much love!
