Riding Around Palos Verdes 2019
I'm Riding to End AIDS
2020 pretty much sucked but I'm excited to continue my journey in supporting the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
Since 1997 I've participated in some sort of cycling event supporting an AIDS Service organization, in Washington DC I raised funding for the Whitman Walker Clinic and Food & Friends who I had the pleasure of volunteering at for 11 years and here in California fundraising for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
I've logged 10's of thousands of miles on my bicycle while personally raising close to $100K with the kindness of friends and family supporting me in this endeavor. I've ridden in the heat and humidity of riding my bike from Raleigh North Carolina to Washington DC to riding along some of the most beautiful coastlines along California riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
With 2020 came the coronavirus and with its uncertainties came the cancellation of AIDS Lifecycle the bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, again still with the unknown when things will get back to "normal" the ride for 2021 has also been cancelled. With this cancellation, fundraising for the Foundation and the Center came to a trickle, this cycling event provides for a large portion of their annual budgets.
October 23rd a new fundraising effort was announced. Participants set a challenge of their own, I've challenged myself to complete 3,500 miles of cycling by June 30, 2021 and raise $5,000 all in support of the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center and I couldn't do so without the support of the generosity of friends and family. With COVID safety in mind most of these miles will be done by myself by you can check here or check my Strava account to see my progression to meet my challenge goal.
Help me support the TogetheRide by giving what you can. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past.
