In 2011, when I signed up for my first AIDS/lifecycle, I had no idea that I’d still be riding and fundraising for this ever-important cause 10 years later. A lot has changed since then…my bike and human parts have a lot more miles on them…and we are still in the midst of the worst pandemic in the last 100 years. The ALC 2020 was cancelled and 2021 was virtual, which makes the ALC2022 all the more special and important. Like many other non-profit organizations, San Francisco AIDS foundation and its sister organization, the LA LGBTQ center, took major hits to its fundraising.
June 5th - June 11th I will ride my bike 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles to support the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, in the fight to end HIV/AIDS.
Preparing for this journey will require countless hours of training and preparation, and I’ve committed my time to make sure that I’m ready. This year, I’ve also committed to raising $15,000 before I ride. For this, I need you to join me in my commitment to help end HIV/AIDS. This amount goes beyond the minimum required to ride, because I feel the need to do everything I can to help end this disease. $15,000 will make a world of difference for the organizations benefitted by this ride, and the clients they serve. So, I’m asking you to donate as generously as you possibly can (and to help spread the word about this cause).
In honor of my 66th birthday, for the next 66 days, I will match every contribution dollar for dollar. That's how important this cause is to me. So this is an especially good time to give generously.
To the people who rely on these services to survive, every dollar counts now, and every dollar brings me one step closer to hitting my goal. As soon as donations are received, they are used to bring much needed health care to the HIV community.
Thank you for making this personal goal a reality for me and for being the support that I need to cross the finish line on June 11th. Together, we will make a difference.
With love and gratitude,
