Preparing for AIDS/LifeCycle and the 545 mile bike-ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles not only entails a physical endurance test for me or anybody involved, but also a psychological and an emotional test that is helping to propel my sincere desire to make a difference for what are life-saving services offered by both the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. My husband has had several dear friends who have fallen victim to this disease; talented and loving people who were taken away from us too early in life. The pain of these losses will never go away, but we can continue to fight towards a cure. We can never give up. Great strides have been made in the last 36 years, but it continues to have a devastating effect on the lives of those who are currently afflicted.
