I'm Riding to End AIDS
From June 3-9, 2018, I'm biking the AIDS/LifeCycle from San Francisco to Los Angele. It's a 7-day, 545-mile ride to end HIV/AIDS. This will be my fourth year, and I thought it might be nice to take stock in what this effort is about and what the San Francisco AiIDS Foundation does with the money we raise:
Gay Men's Health: Free services for HIV-positive and HIV-negative men, including more than 14,000 HIV tests and STI screenings annually
The money we raise together strikes the balance between fighting HIV/AIDS and helping those living with it. In the past that meant helping gay men, but that has changed. The highest increase in rates of infection are among young women, people of color, and those with a low income. Researchers are making impressive strides, and have hope of beating it soon.
This ride is personal to me thought too. On thay level, this ride, this challenge is a measure of gratitude to those before me in the struggle for acceptance and equality for gays and lesbians.
Thank you for your support. I hope you'll join me by giving what you can. I'll keep riding until the end.
