Well folks, the world is very different this year, and so is the AIDS Lifecycle. In 2017 I said I would never ride again, and only Roadie, and then March 2020 hit and all I wanted to do was give up my weekends and train with ALC riders. So I signed up for 2021.
Due to the fact that COVID-19 is still running strong, the ALC is not going to be the same kind of event as it was in the past.
AIDS Organizations need our help more now than ever. The federal government has been granting less and less to AIDS Organizations and people living with HIV are still immunocompromised during this pandemic. So, this year the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center are doing something different for their big fundraiser. TogetheRide - riders are cumulatively going to ride 1.2 million miles by June 30th to honor the 1.2 million people in the US living with HIV.
So I am committing to ride 1,122 miles. Why such a strange number? I am challenging myself to bike the 12,942 streets in the city of Oakland.
I have not figured out the full logistics yet, more to come on that.
Please sponsor me. As most of of you know the SFAF is an amazing organization and AIDS has impacted my life strongly, so I ride again....
