Here we go!
June 2nd - June 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles, to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and I am proud to be a small part of this incredible event.
After all these years the need is still great, so that is why I am still riding and asking for your support. Now that I am 53, this challenge is not getting any easier, trust me, but with your help I know it is possible.
As you know, this is a cause that is very dear to my heart, having lost my first love Tom Rockwell to this devastating disease. On June 2nd I will leave SF and pedal my bicycle stroke-after-stroke, mile-after-mile, until I reach LA. I will ride to honor Tom and all my brothers and sisters who are battling HIV and AIDS that are not able to ride.
Preparing for this journey will require countless hours of training and preparation: from logistics for the travel, to miles and miles of bike riding (my rear end hurts just thinking about it), and the very important fund raising. As in the past, I have pledged to raise $10,000 for this great cause and I can't get there without your help. Will you please join me in this fight to end HIV and AIDS with a donation?
Thank you in advance for helping me make this personal goal a reality, and most importantly for joining this love bubble to help elevate our brothers and sisters in need. For those of you who have joined me in the past with a contribution, you know that together we are making a difference in this world. Let's keep that love going so that others may live.
With love and gratitude,
