I was reflecting on 30 years since the AIDS epidemic started. COVID-19 has been stark reminder of the fear we faced as many of my friends and loved ones succumbed to the illness. I also marvel at how our community banded together to address the disease. Many of these discoveries have been useful in understanding the COVID virus.
Unfortunately for many a compromised immune system makes COVID even more deadly and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center has been there for those most at risk but they need our help. I have been committed to this fight since the mid 90’s and I will continue to fundraise.
COVID has put a wrench in our annual 545 mile ride from SF to LA but not to be deterred we are grabbing life by the handlebars and making our individual commitments.
I am committing to ride 2,500 miles from Oct. 31 to June 2021. That is the distance from Los Angeles to New York City. I plan on updating my miles each week and starting with an 80 mile ride on Halloween. So help me to raise $5,000 or more this year for the Center. I will regularly post on Facebook each mile and journey I make. Maybe even encourage you to participate along with me. At 68 I still love to ride my bicycle and with your help I can continue to help the Center raise funds.
