Thank you for joining me in this cause! I’m excited to share my AIDS/LifeCycle journey with you.
It’s been 10 long years since my last ride and there’s been no ride the past 2 years but we’ll both be back in 2022!
It was 28 years ago when I signed up for the very first California AIDS Ride. What started out as a wild idea to get 500 cyclists to ride 500 miles and raise a million dollars to fight AIDS has turned into the largest annual AIDS fundraising event in California.
For the past 2 years the ride has been cancelled thanks to that other pandemic, but AIDS hasn’t gone away and the need for services hasn’t gone away. Both the LA LGBT Center and the SF AIDS Foundation have remained open and serving the needs of the community. The ride is back on for 2022 and the need has never been greater.
In June I’ll be riding my bike 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the 12th time; a grand total of more than 6,500 miles, not counting tens of thousands of training miles. Every mile is a reminder of why we’re here, the friends we’ve lost and the friends that are still living with HIV.
The money we raise helps fund advocacy, research, counseling, screening, prevention and healthcare services to those living with AIDS. These services mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
