Family and Friends,
I am reaching out to you because from June 2nd through the 8th I am participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
As a fitness enthusiast who loves to cycle in my pastime, this ride has been on my bucket list for some time. This ride is meaningful for me not just because of the physical challenge of training for and riding 545 miles but more importantly for the cause it is supporting.
HIV/AIDS remains an urgent public health crisis in the United States as well as globally. While many advances have been made, there is still not a cure. I work for Gilead Sciences, a biopharmaceutical company, that is a leader in the HIV/AIDs treatment development. Gilead does not only provide HIV preventative medications but is also dedicated to increasing awareness of HIV/AIDS and continues to work towards developing a cure.
My brother-in-law lost his life to HIV and I never got a chance to meet him. If he had access to the treatments that exist today, not only would I have been able to meet him, but my children would have known their uncle.
Let's make sure others are able to get access to treatments and services they need so they can be around for their family.
By supporting me in the ride you are supporting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation who are working to ensure those infected with HIV/AIDS receive the treatment, services, and support they need to live long full life creating great memories with their loved ones.
I thank you in advance for your support. Your support means the world to me.
