Once again, I'm in training to cycle 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles on May 31st through June 6th. What's inspiring me to ride yet another year, one might ask? Well, let me tell you...
As an undetectable/HIV+ man since 2014, and with 2+ years of sobriety from alcohol and drugs, I spend a lot of my free time with my AIDS/LifeCycle team, the Trudging Buddies. This is a team and a community that was started in 2013, providing a safe, healthy, and positive community for AIDS/LifeCycle participants in need of a supportive sober community.
My involvement in the ride, and more specifically with this team not only helps me maintian my own extremely crucial sobriety, but also allows me an opportunity to give back, through sharing my experience, strenth and hope as a sober, undetectible/HIV+ cyclist with others within and beyond this community.
Most importatnly though, I'm committing to raising over $10,000 thru June which will go towards the Los Angeles LGBT Center, providing the community with extensive services spanning mental and physical health, substance abuse counceling, advocacy, culture, leadership, and education - a great deal of which I've personally benefited throughout my 13 years in Los Angeles.
Your support through a donation, regardless the amount, means so much to me, as do the services that will be provided to those who receive them.
Will you please support me in my training for and participation in this years LifeCycle by making a donation? And if you or any one you know is ever struggling with substance abuse, addiction or depression, know that I'm here for support through sharing my own experience, strength and hope.
