I am enthusiastically participating in my 8th ride, and this time I am back to riding a bicycle. And it's a new red bicycle! The last two years I volunteered as a roadie on the "Water & Ice" Team. To be an example to my donors and show my continued support again I am self donating $1,000 plus an additional personal gift of $1,000 in memory of my dad, Don Benson, who died in 2018. In the past my mom and dad met me at the finishline and I will be sad that dad wont be there this year to cheer me across the finishline. And I am thankful to my employer, Thrivent Financial, for supporting my volunteering and riding with a matching gift!
Every year during the first week of June 2,500 cyclists ride their bikes for a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. To help those riders get from Sf to LA it takes about 600 roadies to make the ride happen.
I participate in and support AIDS LifeCycle, because I know people in need will receive care from the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. I knew in my heart when I completed my first ride, ALC 10, that my riding and your donations saved a life. I felt this deep within me. This is why I keep participating. Together we are making a difference in people lives and as a result our communities are a better.
I have seen first hand the good work provided by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and it makes a world of difference. I ask that you please help my participation in AIDS/LifeCycle by giving what you can. Thank you for your donation, support and encouragement !!! Chris
