I'm Riding to End AIDS
I will once again be riding as a cyclist in the 2020 ALC Ride. I want to thank you for taking the time to once again be involved with my personal challenge. I was a rider with the AIDS LifeCycle for the first time in June of 2012. What an amazing journey it was for me, from the training to the fundraising and finally the ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I am so thankful to each and every one of my donors who have helped me raise over $75 thousand dollars since I began riding in the AIDS LifeCycle. It has changed my life forever in so many ways (from seeing old friends and making new ones that will last a life time, to meeting the man who would later become my wonderful husband.) I will continue to ride until there is a cure and HIV and AIDS are a thing of the past. Those of you who know me know how much this ride means to me and my passion for supporting this ride. I have to give a special thank you to the City of Oakland Fire Department where I work who showed me such fantastic support and encouragement not only with donations but moral support while training for the ride. I also can and never will forget my Solano County Fire Departments (Vallejo, Fairfield, Vacaville, Cordelia, Rio Vista/Montezuma) who have always dontated and supported me over the years without hesitation-you will always be family to me.
This upcoming ride on from May 31-June 6, 2020, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle. It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a world of difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. More still can be done and must be done. I realized myself that first year that I could do more, so I put forth the challenge to myself to successfully complete the ride, which I did (thanks to the support of the friends I rode with and also the friends and coworkers who were cheering me on back at home). After seeing the smiles, tears, determination and sheer dedication from all my fellow riders throughout the years, I knew we were all going to be successful. Nothing holds us back-the early days, rain/cold, head winds, as well as the miles and miles we pedal during our 7 day journey. We are there for one another.
I ride for those who can't ride this year and for those who already lost their fight with AIDS. I will ride again because of you, I will ride for the spouse, for the mother, father, brother or sister, for the daughters and the sons, for the friends who cannot ride. I WILL RIDE BECAUSE HIV/AIDS IS NOT OVER, but I can make a difference.
Help me support AIDS/LifeCycle by giving what you can, in any way possible ($5.00, $50.00 or $500.00). Throughout the years my fundraising has been so humbling for me, the donations I received surpassed each goal I set for myself year after year. The kindness of each donor shows me the good that is still in everyone. By starting now, I know with your help, I will far exceed this years goal. We'll keep riding until AIDS and HIV are a thing of the past. This disease knows no boundaries of race, age, gender or sexual orientation.
Thank you for your donation today and I truly hope to see you at the finish line when we ride into LA (talk about the perfect ending, seeing your smiling faces as I ride across that finish line would be so amazing.)
