Since the 2020 AIDS Lifecycle ride was canceled due to the pandemic, 2021 was also canceled as well due to the uncertainty and safety for those participating and volunteering.
Instead, the folks at AIDS Lifecycle created a virtual "Together Ride", where we "riders" can ride, walk, run, exercise that is then translated into miles. From October 2020 - June 2021, I have committed myself to 1,090 miles (545 miles x 2 years) to be completed over 8 months. As of today (05/10/2021), I have logged 950 miles. I am rider #4335 for the Together Ride.
Until I can create a fundraiser at the Lookout, and see my teammates and friends again, I am fundraising virtually, to hit my goal of $5,000 by June. People still need the services provided by the SF AIDS Foundation and the pandemic does not stop the services, but fundraising will be a challenge due to the way the pandemic will and has dealt an economic blow to our fundraising.
But will you help me raise $$$ for my favorite 501c charity, match funds through your employer, and you can get a tax deduction for doing so.
I kept my story from the 2020 ride below if you want to read it.
Why am I doing this ride....again?
I have too many friends affected with HIV/AIDS and I can't take a year off to be "selfish." Selfish is not in my nature, but service is.
I have committed myself to 10 years of riding in AIDS Lifecycle - I figured that's my body's commitment and I am more than halfway there and riding 545 miles is NOT easy! 2020 will be my 6th year riding, 7th year committed (injury in May 2015).
For 2020, for EVERY $1,000 raised, I will repeat and do QUADBUSTER (on Day 3, 1.5-mile climb of 2,000 feet elevation) that many times. Eg, raise $5k, do Quadbuster 5x. Help me with this challenge! I did Quadbuster 2x in 2018; In 2019, Quadbuster 3x...before I got a heat-triggered flat on my 4th time ascending...and the Caboose was on my tail (the end of day ride trail/monitor, where if you're caught by the Caboose, you're done and sagged for the day). What will it be in 2020???
We have lost an entire generation to HIV/AIDS. Today, we are losing young people's mind's about not being educated about the disease.
I love my supporters, my repeat donors, my team, my fellow riders, the roadies, and the organization. Will you please help me continue for 2020?
2014 - $5,770
2016 - $7,850
2017 - $5,700
2018 - $7,460
2019 - $7,800
2020 - $3,000
TOTAL RAISED: $37,580!!!!!
I am riding for those we have lost, are afflicted, those around me who are affected by this disease, and those who cannot ride. Most of all, I am riding to inspire awareness in my friends and family. I have committed myself to 10 years of ALC or when we do not have to ride because a cure is found.
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS and your support!
