Lies below! GRIN. I am an Intern, working with staff to learn. We hope to start a ride in Texas.
I'm on a bike again! But you're not surprised, are you?
From June 4 - 10, 2017, I'm bicycling in AIDS/LifeCycle (ALC). It's a 7-day, 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to make a difference in the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS. I did this in 2013, 2015, and I am doing it again. It is every bit the challange it was in those years because I will be required to ride 100+ miles a day. Every day.
I want you to know that I have donated money to cover my own costs. So the idea here is that I'm paying my own way. I know that it costs ALC, per rider, to stage this ride and support them on the journey. But I want anyone who donates because I've asked to know that 100% of their dollars go to this cause, not spent to support me riding. So, you're not giving money to support me, you're giving money to support those who need it, and to end HIV and AIDS. Your gift will only be used to support the chairty. While this ride is an adventure for me, HIV and AIDS is an adventure no one should ever have. So I also ride to stop it. I ride for those who can no longer ride because their health won't allow it. I ride in the memory of those I have lost, of those we have all lost. So many bright lights, extinguished so early, who were with us too briefly. I ride for a brighter future, one where the stigma of this virus is non existant, one where HIV and AIDS can be prevented, even eradicated from our world. I ride because this is what I can do to help.
Thank you for helping me support AIDS/LifeCycle fundraising by giving what you can. Your generosity is amazing.
And one more thought: if your company provides matching donations when you give to a 501(c)3 charity, please consder asking them to match your donation here. It shouldn't be too hard, and it depends on your companies process for matching. If you have any questions about this process, please let me know and I will do whatever I can to help.
Thank you for your generosity.
