Thank you AGAIN for joining me in this very important cause!
June 2nd - June 8th I’ll be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to support the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This will be my 8th time jumping on a bike and heading down the coast. Your support means the world to me.
11 years ago, David Wood and myself took on this challange because we wanted to once again give back to our community. Now I continuie this journey and remember what I learned from him about giving back to our community. Although he dies from Pancreatic Cancer, this was one of our favorite causes supporting our diverse and inclusive community.. Over the years we had volunteered at numerous organizations for causes ranging from HIV/AIDS to Poverty. We were always drawn back to the HIV causes as we had lost many friends and acquaintances over the years to this disease. We spent many Sundays throwing Barbeques for AIDS patients at Chris Brownlie Hospice in Elysian Park. Those days are long gone, but not the memories of the fabulous people who we entertained, ate with, and cried with. They are all angels that continue to be with me as I once again take on this journey.
Today I find that society has lost the realization that this pandemic has not gone away. Just because we do not see it in the news on a daily basis, or have firends suffering, the need is still there. It is even greater than before. Today aprox 80% of new cases are in the LGBTQ+ community and we cannot overlook this fact. Sure, the drugs have allowed people to "live with the disease" but the disease still takes lives, cripples many people that do not have the financial means to treat it, and still needs our attention.
Please join me in supporting this cause. Maybe you could even come ride a few miles. Hey, it could do us all some good to put our energy behind this event!!
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today? NO Donation is too small, NO donation is too large. Give what you can, but please, GIVE!!
