I'm Supporting HIV/AIDS Essential Services During this Pandemic
As we all face the anxiety and uncertainty currently around us every day, I wanted to send a grateful thank you to everyone that has supported me in love, emotional support, and donations over the last eight months in my commitment toward AIDS/LifeCycle 2020. THANK YOU! Unfortunately, AIDS/LifeCycle was canceled to protect vulnerable communities, and our Riders/Roadies during this pandemic.
However, I remain dedicated, united, and resolute, in my commitment to supporting much-needed healthcare, food insecurity, housing, and testing services for the many clients living with and aging with HIV and related comorbidities (heart disease, respiratory disease, diabetes, etc.). And, as an individual living and aging with an HIV immune-suppressed system, the Coronavirus pandemic hits me very close to home. To that end, I’ll commit to the #My545Challenge, by compiling equivalent miles and community service hours to replicate the ALC ride week through biking and community engagement. Wish me luck!
I know a lot of you at this time cannot contribute, but for those who are still able, please help me in supporting the Los Angeles LGBT Center by donating via my AIDS/LifeCycle link. They accept donations of any size, and monthly recurring gifts are easy to arrange. Every dollar will go toward keeping essential services available to so many in need during this pandemic. Medical, Food and Housing are the top essential service needs.
The Journey and Story Ahead
2020 will indeed be a year to reflect upon for all of us, and we’ll each have our own unique story to tell. We should honor the courage, fortitude, resiliency, and compassion of our healthcare professionals, support staff, and front line clerks who have sacrificed dearly for the betterment of others. What we have endured will live with us forever, and we will all hopefully grow from it, and apply these learnings to our shared futures together. To that end, I will continue to fight and support others.
Your support would mean so much, so if you can donate, PLEASE DO.
In love, gratitude, and health,
Brett
