Dear Friends and Family,
This year I will be undertaking the AIDS/LifeCycle event once again. Since 2010, this will be the 7th time I have participated, either as a virtual or in-person rider. This year, however, I will be enjoying this event in a new way: as a volunteer American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, making the whole ride experience accessible for the Deaf participants on the ride. In addition to seeing the event from a different perspective, I will also be participating back at home as an official Training Ride Leader (TRL) helping to guide riders through their training as they literally gear up for the event in June!
I am continually grateful for all the support that you have shown me over the last 11 years. Together, we have raised over $35,000.00 to benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. LGBT Center. These funds provide critical services for individuals struggling with HIV/AIDS, as well as preventative education and medications for folks helping to keep their virus levels undetectable. YOU have been instrumental in continuing to serve underserved populations, even during COVID, when we still managed to raise over $3000.00.
I still ride/volunteer for the same reasons I always have: I want to see HIV/AIDS become a thing of the past, and I participate in the memories of the friends I lost to the disease: Chris Roper, Dino Cannavino, and my good friend's best friend, Roby Starns. Though decades have passed since we've been together, we haven't forgotten them.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal today, and join me as I bring the "Love Bubble" to Deaf participants on the ride!
All the best,
