Ten years ago when I signed up for AIDS/LifeCycle I had no idea the impact it would have on me. This event, which I initially thought of as a passing challenge, has given me purpose, lifelong friendships, inspiration and a career I am so incredibly proud of.
Every day I am fortunate to come to work and learn from this community how to do better and be better. AIDS/LifeCycle is a beautiful tapestry, comprised of thousands of people from all over the world, working toward one goal; Ending the pandemic and suffering caused by HIV/AIDS.
This year AIDS/LifeCycle which look much different than the event that transformed my life 10 years ago. As a result of the ever-unfolding Covid-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our physical ride and look for new and innovative ways to stay connected and, most importantly, continue raising the critical funds needed to provide services to our community.
Nearly a decade ago I asked for donations so that I could hit the minimum fundraising in order to ride in AIDS/LifeCycle. Today I ask for your support because I believe with every fiber of my being, in the programs that AIDS/LifeCycle supports.
I will be participating in our MY 545 challenge over the next two months. Taking on various physical challenges as I enlist the support of my network to raise $5,000.
My first personal challenge is to raise $545 by my 33rd birthday, April 16th. When I raise these funds, I will complete 545 hip thrusts from the socially distant location of MY LIVING ROOM! You all know your girl loves a leg day but this will be pure hell on earth. This physical pain is a small price to pay to support the work of San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center though and I look forward to taking on the challenge! Once this first installment has been completed, I will be inviting my donors to help me select my physical MY 545 undertaking.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your ongoing support and faith in me.
You are a hero to many whose names you may never know.
