I was debating not sending a request for support for my virtual AIDS LIfeCycle in June and my (hopefully actual) Cycle for the Cause in December given the current situation and the need for funds for so many worthy organizations at the current time as we all deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I believe that at this time it is important we all try to be extra-generous (to the extent possible) given that the needs for clients of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the New York LGBT Center are greater now than they have been , and as both organizations face significant reductions in financial support, while needs escalate. Who could have imagined as a community we would be fighting another deadly virus in our lifetime?
So, while I am sheltering in place in Sonoma I am continuing to get on my bike locally to the extent possible. It helps me to get out in the fresh air, clear my mind, and remind me of happier times. Since I am riding alone due to the necessary restrictions, it also reminds me how much I miss community and the importance of togetherness, which I know everyone can relate to. It is comforting to know that I am part of a virtual community until a time when we can be together again personally.
Thank you for all of your past personal and emotional support. I hope that if you are able you can to continue to support the vital work of the SFAF and NY LGBT Center in addition to many other causes currently in need.
