Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 2nd thru 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I’ll be one of them!
In 1981, I was 7 years old. But unlike most 7 year olds, I had a front row seat to the beginning of the AIDS epidemic. I was born and raised in the Castro. My family’s business is in the Castro. On a daily basis, we saw young men who were vibrant and healthy a week ago, sick and wasting the next and then gone. Our friends were dying, our customers were dying, our employees were dying. It was all so fast. With the advancement in research and medications, people with AIDS are living long full lives. But I see too many young people, who never saw the devastation willingly putting their lives at risk, and it frustrates and scares me. I never want to see my community dying around me again. This is why I have decided to volunteer my time.
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
