Thank you for joining me in this cause! I will be riding again in 2020. This will be my fourth year as a rider and my fifth year as an ALC participant!
AIDS/LifeCycle is a fully supported, seven-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. I have been supporting this cause since 2015 as a donor and since 2016 as a participant.
In my capacity as a doctor I have taken care of many people who live with HIV/AIDS who are uninsured, homeless or under-utilizers of the medical system for various reasons. I have the privilege of taking care of them when they are under my care at my hospital, however, I have to let them go and hope they will be able to get follow up care, medications, prevention resources, therapy and counseling. For the past few years I have been able to let them know there is a resource for them after they leave the hospital, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. I don't know how many of them have followed up, but, I see some of them become overwhelmed with emotion when I tell them about the help they can get at SFAF. SFAF would not exist as it does today to help countless people living with HIV/AIDs without the AIDS/LifeCycle and AIDS/LifeCycle would not be able to raise millions of dollars every year without riders and roadies (volunteers). And, riders and roadies would not be able to raise millions of dollars without you, the donors.
AIDS/LifeCycle is a a life-changing ride for all who participate in it and especially for me and a life-saving resource for people living with HIV/AIDS and a preventive resource for the at risk population.
Thank you so much for donating today!!!
