Thank you for joining me in this cause!
June 2nd - June 8th, over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Virtual Cyclists will be participating in AIDS/LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. This year, I’ll be one of them! Not as a cyclist, but as a roadie!! I‘m on the Traffic Patrol Squad! In other words, I’ll be directing riders so they dont hit small children cheering them on - along the side of the road. Directing cars so that they don’t hit the riders which could result in hitting the same cheering children. Throw food and water at the riders to help replenish their energy. And hopefully make them laugh on their exhausting and difficult journeys!!!!
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me, because I, too, am HIV +.
I have received free medical care and medication from the LGBT ctr. for over 11 years now. In 2010, I was diagnosed with HIV. It was a very scary and upsetting time for me; not to mention the negative stigma and shame that comes along with it.
Thankfully though, AIDS research has come a long way; making a diagnosis of HIV no longer a fatal and deadly disease but more a treatable and chronic disease. Because of the LGBT ctr., I’m able to live a healthy and worry free life today. Because of the medication, I’m no longer positive with HIV. I’m HIV undetectable. Meaning that I’m unable to transfer the disease to anyone and that it currently isn’t destroying my immune system making me susceptible to illness and other diseases. I am truly blessed and for that, it’s important for me to do whatever I can in return. So help me in working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you please support me by making a donation today and let us together, in our lifetime, witness the end of The Aids Epidemic.
