Instead of the regular ride we are participating in a virtual event called TOGETHERIDE. We will individually log miles in our favorite sports to collectively put in 1.2 million miles, to honor, support, and shine a light on the 1.2 milion people in the US living with HIV/AIDS. I've committed to riding 3000 miles by June 31st, and raising $4000 for these life saving organizations. I understand that many of us are experiencing financial hardship this year, but if you can, will you please help me reach my goal?
I'm riding to love and support the members of my community that are HIV positive, and I'm riding to love myself. I don't truly know what it feels like to receive an HIV diagnosis, because only those who have lived it do. However, some of the people I love and admire most in the world are HIV+, and what I understand from them is that it is a very dark day filled with fear, shame, dispair. That is something that i do understand. When I reached my darkest day at the bottom of my alcoholism there were loving hands there to help me up, to guide me to a brighter day and help me learn to love myself again. Togethor we can end the stigma against people living with HIV/AIDS. We can help ensure that on their darkest day there are loving hands to help them through it, and that the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center can continue to provide essential life saving services. And togethor we can find a cure!
We're working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me.
