So, look. I've had friends do the AIDS Lifecycle for years and every time they ask I'm always, "yeah, I'll do it next time." But I never do it... until NOW! I finally decided to bite the bullet and sign up (I think the fact that it was ten months away at the time made it seem unreal). I'm really excited because I've joined a team of sober guys, so it means a lot to me.
Here's where you come in. I need donations to do the race. A MINIMUM OF $3000 to be exact. There's no way I'm gonna sign up for something like this and not actually raise enough to make the course.
And for the brief part where I guilt you with statistics. First the good news: infection rates actually declined 5% from 2011 - 2015. But African-Americans still make up the largest percentage of infections, 44%, even though we make up less than 14% of the overall population. And broken down even further, Black men make up the most infections, with Latino men and White men neck-and-neck for second place. And of course, all these people are living longer, but that's only if you have healthcare and can afford the ridiculous price of medication.
OK, attempted guilt trip done! Ultimately, I'm looking for people to donate. Whateve you can give would be greatly appreciated. And if you can't give now? Don't worry! I'll probably be begging again for donations in spring of 2019, anyway. But if you can give now, I'd really appreciate it.
