I need to raise $10,000 (just under €9,000).
You heard me. I need to raise $10,000.
OKAY, FOR WHAT?
The money is going directly to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, an organization which supports prevention and care-based initiatives that combat new HIV infections.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING THOUGH?
I’m doing the AIDS Lifecycle. On June 2nd - June 8th together with 3,000 other riders I’ll be cycling 545-miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
For me, getting tested for STIs was only ever about one thing, “Fuck, do I have HIV?”. That’s different now because I know facts about HIV which I didn’t know before. It’s not a death sentence and people can lead normal lives if they have it. But there’s a stigma about being HIV positive that has impacts friends as well as our community so the work goes on to eliminate new cases and educate society about the risks and the facts.
LOOKING FOR A DONATION, HUH?
If you decide to contribute, you may be doing so out of the goodness of your heart and from the bottom of mine – thank you. However, I know many of you will be contributing because you will relish how ridiculously back-breaking this journey will be and how much I’ll feel every rotation and from the darker side of my heart I appreciate that appeal. So, I'll be uploading 10 second clips of training rides from the road as part of my journey to $10,000 to fuel donations from the good and the bad :-)
So, to cut to the chase – I'd love a donation.
Techies – You have to enter my rider number (3694) in the comments field in order for it to reach my fund.
Googlers! Please donate via instructions at go/alc-donate to avail of gift-match – my rider number is 3694. If you do not enter it, you're not donating to my fund.
