Like so many things, ALC 2021 has had to reinvent itself in the face of the pandemic, so this year I’m participating in the virtual TogetherRide. I’m committing to riding a minimum of 1,000 miles at home and on the road before June 30, 2021. When ALC 2020 was canceled earlier this year I was sad that I wouldn’t be able to participate in the ride, but was proud of the miles I was able to complete and the money I was able to help raise as a first time rider. With your help I hope to repeat that success.
Uniquely, this year has given us all some relevant perspective. Even those without first hand experience with HIV/AIDS can better understand the struggles that come with preventing, living with, and combating a vicious disease. This year has put a strain on everyone in one way or another, so I ask only that you give what you can and thank you in advance for every dollar you can spare. Take pride in knowing that the treatment, preventative tools, and education you are funding saves lives.
Here are a few examples of where your money goes:
$30 covers the treatment medication for one client diagnosed with an STI.
$100 provides comprehensive HIV/STI testing to one client.
$250 provides Rapid HIV Antibody tests to 20 clients.
$5,000 covers a full year of laboratory testing for 11 patients.
$10,000 covers 3 months of psychosocial case management for 300 patients.
