Thank you for joining me in this cause!
Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues –
Excited to announce that I will be participating in a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles this June, called AIDS/LifeCycle for a SECOND year! Recently, I have been doing a lot of thinking about fulfillment and sustainability. A few months ago, I had a heart condition that really shook me to the core. I took a couple of days to stabilize in the hospital, but as I was recovering it was hard not to let my mind go to some really dark places. Is this it? What will happen to my family? My friends? My career? My dreams?
This brought me to strongly reflect on the past year. And with all of its challenges, the ultimate highlight of 2019 was the AIDS/Lifecycle. Never before have I felt so part of a community, with an explicit purpose of service to the under-served, committed to providing care to those who need it most. In fact, just a couple weeks ago LA County’s Department of Public Health made a stunning decision to cut free STD testing programs at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. Trying times indeed.
But beyond that, the ride had a profound impact on my spirit. 7 days of cycling 545 miles and camping each night might sound like torture. But it proved to challenge and strengthen my body, mind, and soul. I was simultaneously unleashing my body’s power, maintaining focus, and accomplishing something amazing along side thousands of other cyclists, roadies, and supporters all with the same goal and never stopping short of active encouragement and love.
And thats why I am riding again in 2020. Treating our bodies and our communities right is the essence of fulfillment and sustainability. And that’s why I ride. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to my ALC 2020 ride. Please join me in helping raise $5,000 towards righting these wrongs with a community of people taking a grass-roots approach to support, encourage, and advocate for one another. By donating, you are helping fund vital programs and services for those in need. And you can follow me as I train and ride across 545 miles of this beautiful state!
Thanks for helping make a difference, supporting this important cause with me! I’ll promise to keep smiling the whole way through!
We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past.
Will you support me by making a donation today?
