We are heartbroken that the AIDS/LifeCycle 2020 event won’t happen in the way we’ve all come to know and love this year, but we remain as committed as ever to the work of the mission and are here to work together in achieving these goals.
We continue to be grateful for our Community’s dedication to fundraising that goes toward the medical care and prevention that is especially critical for the clients of The Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The 2019 ALC ride was so impactful, when I made this epic 545 mile journey down the coast of California, from San Francisco to Los Angeles .....It really changed my life and I feel that I have found my tribe of like minded, heartfelt, giving and inclusive folks. I want to give back for all that was given to me. This year we cannot ride down the cost together; this year we will collectively ride our individual journeys to ride 1.2 Million miles to represent the 1.2 Million people living in the states with HIV / AIDS. we are on our own but together. We are making a difference.
This ride from San Francisco to LA has been going on since 1993. ALC has made so many great changes and improved a lot of lives over the years. But the work is not done. I volunteered my first year and was so impressed with how the moneys are used to help so many people that I rode last year. Riding was a reward in itself with all the amazing people that I met. So incredible! It's the kind of all inclusive, really supportive and caring community that we all want (and deserve) to belong to. The reward is that much sweeter when I know there is low overhead for ALC and the money donated is used immediately to help the people that need it most.
This year has seen so many changes already; the ride being one of many. But just because we cannot ride together does not mean that we cannot be impactful; we are making a difference.
All along I have heard that it is a ride not a race. I know that it will take more than one year to end HIV / AIDS. Although, I am sad that I can't ride with my tribe this year, I am committed to ending AIDS! Guess what? AIDS is still here and I am still riding to end it. I am here to smash the stigma and be an ambassador for this great and necessary cause Are you ready to change lives with me?!
A worthy note: We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Please support me by making a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation today and/or forward to family and friends who may want to support the cause. Just click the orange Donate Now button somewhere on this page. Also check with your employer to see if they have a donation matching program for charities; this way you can double your contribution (Holy Trifecta Batman - worthy-cause donation, tax-deductible and company match!!) and help me achieve my fund-raising goal even faster. If you are able to get a company match, please include my name and participant# (3465) on your match request. Thank you. You are greatly appreciated!
