The time has come to make a difference.
For years, I always wanted to give back to my LGBTQ community. I kept putting it off. I made excuses. Well, I've decided to take action and make a difference in my community and the world today.
I was personally affected by AIDS and HIV for years leading up to my oldest brother's death in 2009. It was a tragedy, and could have been totally avoidable. Looking back at his life, I wish I could have done more to save him. I was uninformed. I wasn't in a position to take care of him. I was in denial about just how bad the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s and 1990s really was. Today, having AIDS and HIV is no longer a death sentence. Society has taken great strides to make AIDS and HIV livable conditions. Its organizations and non-profits that have been very powerful in raising funds to fight and eliminate HIV and AIDS, and have been successful raising millions for new treatments (most recently Truvada, aka PreP) and breaking down inaccurate stereotypes society has unfortunately placed upon those with AIDS and HIV. And I want to be a part of that movement!
Today, I am older, wiser, and motivated to finally give back. My brother deserves it. The community and those who have passed away also deserve it. The world deserves it. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about my brother. Now, 9 years after his passing, I felt a strong desire to join AIDS/LifeCycle. This is the vehicle I will use to influence my family, my friends, and my community. It isn't about me. It is about saving lives and making those lives more enjoyable.
Please learn about AIDS/LifeCycle. It is a good organization with amazing people. Your donation will make a difference. The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the world to me. We’re working together to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. Will you support me by making a donation today?
Thank you for joining me in this cause!
