This is my third year of involvement with AIDS/LifeCycle (ALC)! 2 years ago I rode 545 miles in 7 days, from SF to LA, and raised $4,430.25 for SF AIDS Foundation, which provides life-saving services in my community. Last year, we took our Ride to a virtual platform, and thanks to the generosity of my donors I raised $6,487.54! ALC was such a transformative experience for me that I started working for the organization last year, to help make the Ride a reality for others in 2020.
Due to the pandemic, we at ALC have had to pivot from the Ride (temporarily) to focus on providing an experience that is safe for all our participants. This year we have launched TogetheRide to help folks continue to fundraise on behalf of our cause while staying active and connected to the community we love. We are moving a collective 1.2 million miles this year to honor the 1.2 million people who are still affected by HIV/AIDS in the US.
I am proud to write that SFAF's clinics remain open during these trying months for our community. Our goal to help ensure equitable access to our services, with a specific emphasis on reaching Black, Indigenous, and people of color and other priority communities (including trans and gender non-conforming people), is guiding us forward during this difficult time.
Please consider donating to help make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past. I'm part of the solution, and so are you. If we act now, we can help change the world together.
