Hi Everyone, my name is Jeffrey Kern, and if you are visiting my page, you probably already knew that! I am so excited to be training and fundraising for the 2020 AIDS/LifeCycle.
So, the basics: I am going to be riding 545 miles from SF to LA next May/June. As part of my ride, I am raising awareness and funds for the SF AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center. My fundraising goal for my first ride is $5,000 and with everyone’s generous support, I hope to exceed that amount!
Why is riding exciting and important to me? A million (*or close to a million) reasons! I love to make lists, so I’m going to start listing some of the reasons as I think of them. This is a journey, so I expect to find out some of these as I go along!
- We must find a cure for HIV/AIDS; until that happens, we must all do everything we can to destigmatize this disease and advocate for those affected by it. SF AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center are two terrific organizations that are driving real progress in this space.
- 545 miles: what a challenge (and opportunity to get in great shape)!
- My nearly 70-year old mom (sorry mom, this is the one and only time I will be rounding your age up - but it’s for a good cause, so I know you’ll understand) has already ridden this ride twice and I’ve had to miss out on the fun due to grad school getting in the way. Time to ride!
- More to come...!
