Summer of 2019 I decided to embark on the journey and participate in the aids lifecycle for 2020. I began my training in September 2019, the first ride I did was only about 12 miles but that 12 miles kicked my butt. I thought am I able to do this and what am I getting myself into. As my training progressed.I found myself getting closer to the Alc ride in 2020 by the time my birthday was near I accomplished my first half century. A half century ride is 50 miles, at the end of this ride in Palm Springs, I was in tears. I knew that I would be able to ride the 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles this was an attainable goal.
With the support of my riding team the New Bear Republic and family and friends. I was on my way.
For the 2020 calendar year I was able to raise just a little under my goal of $5000, I was so close ! thank you again to family and friends who supported the my goal!
As my training progressed I felt myself getting stronger and riding longer distances feeling good about where I was in my training. Then Covid hit. I knew that the Alc 2020 would be canceled ,I was devastated! Then shortly there after they announced that 2021 would be canceled as well.
I knew more than ever that funding is needed more so than ever because of this pandemic. And that HIV and AIDS awareness still needed to be accomplish.
I know it's been trying for all of us these last 10 months. My commitment to creating awareness for the LGBTQ plus community is still strong. It would be greatly appreciated if you could assist me with this. My commitment to riding has still continued even though it has slow down however every time I'm back on that bike I know that I'm helping someone in my community that needs an HIV test, medication ,housing or otherwise.
Anything is appreciated if you can donate if not I would love to see your support when we're back to gather and I'm able to ride again with my team! Please consider donating I appreciate you all.
