Training Wheels

Welcome to Training Wheels!

Training Wheels Collective works to create an inclusive community of riders, roadies, and supporters, training and fundraising for AIDS/LifeCycle 2018. This team compliments the riding group, Training Wheels Collective.

With this team, we hope to support each other with our fundraising ideas and efforts, our off the bike get togethers, and our tent grid assignments. As well as keeping each other motivated.

Over the year, we host rides of various durations and intensities to build and maintain endurance and strength so that you can ride each of the 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in June.

From September through November, our rides are focused upon Base Building. That means getting your legs, muscles, ligaments conditioned for riding. Generally these are 20-40 mile rides, relatively flat, with focus on pedaling constantly and interval training. All to build a base cardiovascular capacity and endurance to support training for the ride itself.

From January through June, we focus upon building endurance and strength needed to complete the ride itself. We gradually increase both the length and amount of climbing, a steady progression from 20 to 100 mile rides. Nutrition, hydration, and mental skills are developed, and you have the time to figure out what type of butt butter you prefer.

Safety is our number one priority. We want you to learn how to ride on streets safely, and keep yourself injury free.

And we have a lot of fun as a group of people, both within Training Wheels and the larger AIDS/LifeCycle community.

Please join us, as part of the team and on our rides! See you on the road.
