On June 5th - in less than a month - I'll jump on my road bike and head towards one of the most challenging events in my life - the AIDS/LifeCycle - ride from SF to LA | 545 miles in 7 days. Cycling for 10-12 hours a day through hills, heat, rain, sweat, and blisters.
Why am I doing this?
When I made my leap of faith and moved to the US, I didn't entirely realize what was ahead. How challenging it would be.
SF LGBT Center greeted me with a warm welcome, offered help with immigration questions and job search, but most importantly, gave me a much-needed sense of belonging. The kindness of strangers filled my heart with enormous gratitude and a self-made promise to give back.
I volunteer at several queer events, donate and stay engaged. But this year, I wanted to do something significant for my community (and myself).
Raising $3000 for SF AIDS Foundation while riding through some of California's most beautiful and challenging roads - isn't this a goal worth endeavoring?
You can join me in this cause by helping with the fundraising or sending good vibes (or both!)
The services provided due to my fundraising efforts include counseling, HIV/STD screenings, linking youth experiencing homelessness and people living with HIV to housing, and so much more.
Donations are deductible, and most companies offer matches. To request a match:

I'm both terrified and thrilled.
I'll share thoughts about my experience after the ride on my LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/rg-galieva/
And hey, THANK YOU! (^o^)
