Four years ago, I made the decision to ride a bicycle across the California landscape not knowing for certain what I was getting myself into. Since then I’ve made the 545-mile trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles 3 times over. Participating AIDS/LifeCycle has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life – so incredible that I have signed up to ride for the fourth time in 2019.
I wholeheartedly believe in the AIDS/LifeCycle mission to provide access to services for those living with HIV/AIDS and to bring greater awareness and visibility about it to the larger community. I think now is the time more than ever to do my part in fighting the stigma people face who live with HIV/AIDS especially given the nature of our current administration.
AIDS/LifeCycle is no easy feat and it tests us in every way possible. It takes a lot of dedication in terms of the hours spent preparing mentally, physically and emotionally. However, all the energy I put into it is worth it! I've learned so much on the ride about self-perseverance, the power of community and more importantly the LOVE that brings people together. AIDS/LifeCycle and the people I have met along the way have transformed me forever and I’m ready to do it all over again!
Next year, from June 2nd - June 8th, I will join the Bearded Ladies plus over 3,000 Cyclists, Roadies and Staff on the 545-mile journey from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Since I first road in 2016 I’ve raised cumulatively over $16,000 and plan to cross the $20,000 threshold by raising $5,000 by June 2019.
I am looking to all of my family, friends, and colleagues to join me and help me ride. Will you support me by making a donation today?
With gratitude,
Alexander
