I was going to ride in my first AIDS/LifeCycle in June, but the world had other plans.
Instead of riding 550ish miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles I'll be riding a ton of miles in and around Los Angeles to raise money supporting the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
Here's the new plan:
You donate. I ride. Your donation saves lives, and I get to ride my bike. EVERYBODY WINS!
TogetheRide has a goal of 1.2 million miles by June 30, 2021- one mile for each person in the United States living with HIV. Starting October 26th I'm going to ride at least 100 miles a week until the June 30th finale. That's 3600 miles! In fact, I'll ride a mile for every dollar donated up to $5000. I did the math and it turns out that's FIVE THOUSAND MILES.
I'll be posting regular updates on my rides at https://lukehasa.bike so you can ride along with me and see just how silly I can look in bike jerseys. (SPOILER: very silly.)
Also: THERE IS A CONTEST!
You can pick a place anywhere within a 25 mile radius of Universal Studios. I'll pick a location at random and GO THERE! Heck, I might go to ALL of them.
